Throttle
Transporter

press 1

Throttle is Daniel Coughlin on drums, percussion, and backing vovals, and John Overstreet on guitars, bass, and lead vocals.

Although they prefer to play live as a duo, their new eleven song CD "Transporter" enlists the help of several local Boston musicians. Charlie Kolhase guests on sax, Joseph Kessler on violin, Heidi Sapperstein on vocals, and Tim Obetz adds pedal steel to the mix.

Throttle played their first show in 1993, although John and Danie; have been playing together since 1989. Throttle recorded their first 7" single in 1994 and released it in 1995 on Reproductive Records, which was followed by the national release of the self-titled full length CD on Tee-Pee Records in the fall of 1998.

Throttle remains an obscure jewel to many in Boston. This is probably due to the long break between shows that John and Daniel have taken to pursue other projects. Daniel joined the band Come, and toured heavily, playing on their fourth album "Gently Down the Stream" on Matador Records in january 1998, and appeared in the movie "Radiation", filmed while the band was touring Spain. Radiation, recieved an award at the Sundance Film Festival.

John pursued his work as a sound engineer at the Paradise Nightclub in Boston, and the Middle East Nightclub in Cambridge, MA. He also joined up with the band Morphine as their stage technician and monitor engineer. In the middle of all this, Throttle managed to record Soul Disease, their second full-length CD, released on Reproductive Records in the spring of 1998.

After John returned from Morphine's ill-fated 1999 European Tour, he and Daniel went back into the studio and began working on the songs that would eventually become Transporter. They even experimented live, playing an acoustic show at the Middle East Nightclub, on an odd bill with the soft indie band Ida, trying out some of their dark traditional murder ballads. Chris Brokaw and Thalia Zedek of Come, and Joseph Kessler of Wooden Leg joined them onstage.

Now with Transporter, Throttle is ready to hit the stage again with their heavy two piece barrage of loud rock and deep roots, or perhaps some other unusual arrangement.
